Create Your Ping Artist Page

Each week more and more TuneCore Artists are getting Ping Artist Pages.  Based on what we are seeing and our history working with Apple, we anticipate the volume of TuneCore Artists with activated Ping Pages will significantly increase in the near future.

To be eligible for a Ping Artist Page just use TuneCore to distribute your release.  Then follow the steps below and it’s easy to set up your Artist Page.  As Apple continues to authenticate the account owner for these pages for the millions of artists in the iTunes store, more and more Ping Artist pages will be activated.


To provide more insight on your Ping Artist Page, Apple has created an “Artist Guide and Best Practices” document which you will receive after TuneCore Ping registration (see steps below).  It provides detailed information on the format, types of video and pictures you can include on your Ping Artist Page along with a step by step process on how to upload videos, tips on settings for your iPhone, etc.

How To Set Up Your Ping Artist Page With TuneCore

  1. You must distribute music through TuneCore.
  2. Download and fill out the TuneCore Ping registration form and email it to ping@tunecore.com.
  3. You will receive a link to download the iTunes Artist Guide and Best Practices PDF
  4. After TuneCore Artists Services registers your account through iTunes and you will receive confirmation email from iTunes within three weeks.
  5. Refer to your Ping Artist Guide to set up your Ping Artist Page.
  6. Stay active on Ping, share your favorite music, and find new fans.

    If you have iWork 09, you can use Numbers. Just drag it onto the icon in the doc, and BOOM.

    Alice, http://google.com/docs has a great free online spreadsheet (like Excel) program. You just have to make a username and password of your own for signing in. Then your documents will follow you world wide at whatever computer you want to log into.

    i did it!! now what? i already have a ping account as a person.. will they transfer it or doi i have to do i t again? and i still have to wwait 3 more week s for that itunes email. great.

    Ashley, yep, you do need an artist Ping account if you want one, it’s not the same as an individual Ping account. Starting it is very easy though, takes only seconds. :)

    I’ve got the Excel sheet filled and sent in, but why not just setup a web form to fill out? It would be so much simpler. Excel sheets will require some sort of office program and even a PDF form will require software capable of saving edits to PDF files.

    I don’t know how to find my apple artist ID??? Am I the only idiot here? Where do I “right click” on the band name in the Itunes store? I went to the store and tried this but got nothing…Someone please help.

    Right Click on the artist name aka mine is “Submerse” and it will say “Send Link” And “Copy Link”. Click copy link and your artist ID is at the end of the link :o )
    For a macbook you can press control+click or put two fingers on the trackpad and click!

    Setup individual artist accounts. No offense to you since I run a label as well… but nobody really knows the label name… let alone cares. It’s all about the artist name. So if I’m searching for Eminem I’m not going to search for Aftermath. I hope that makes since. Good Luck!

    When I right click on my name in the iTunes Store I only get a drop down menu that says Open Link/ Copy link. There is nothing that shows any artist apple ID. How do I register then?

      Hey Allen,

      Just click “copy link” from the drop down, and then paste that link somewhere so you can see the whole thing. At the end of the link is “id” followed by a string of numbers. That string of numbers is your artist ID. Sorry for the confusion!

      You can view your Apple ID by copying and then pasting that link you’re referring to and in that link you’ll see at the end “…/idXXXXXXXX” (the Xs will be numbers). That is your ID.

    After letting our label run off into the sunset (you heard right WE fired our label) we would like to start our own itunes ping account via tunecore. Our old label still has our album up on itunes but we’ve never had a ping acct. Will this be a problem as we re-upload our music under the same name?

    Are you allowed you place multiple numbers on the submission form? e.g. where it asks for either the artist’s or the manager’s number… can you put both as a precautionary measure?

    Same question applies to the email!
