New Music Tuesdays

The music industry has established Tuesday as street date for releases. It’s the day that promotions begin around the new music put in the racks at physical record stores. Music can be made available in online stores virtually any day, but for the most part they still follow the same Tuesday new release day schedule for their promotions. Do you release your music on Tuesdays, ASAP, or around a promotion or event you’ve created?

Why on tuesday? We either release on a monday, or on a saturday during a album/single presentation.

Before I knew the industry did this, and I wasn’t doing music 24/7, I would dedicate Tuesday as the day I practiced and spend time heavily on my work (that’s because it was my day off). Music Tuesdays I called them. I don’t know why… maybe it just sounds good.
I think it has to do with the most statistically active day of the business week. It’s Tuesday for blogging too. People have gotten over their Monday blues, their backlog of work and are now fucking around at work.

We stick to Tuesdsays since that’s when people are already programmed to expect to purchase new music on.
