I think you are going to be stunned by what music surfaces - it varies a lot from zip code to zip code and I can attest first hand, it sure isn't Beyonce.

I have been putting in lots of different zip codes and its fascinating to see what the top sellers are where... lots and lots of variation.

I agree with Jim Swan. I think you should push for a Tunecore filter so that we don't have to see the same Top 25 Beyonce whatever from town to town.

I care way more about seeing indie artists from town to town.

Hi All

Just wanted to make sure you knew that we wanted all TuneCore customers to be able to be discovered and promoted via the TuneCore Discover Music iPhone App.

To that end, there are three tabs on the App that allow users to discover music - one of them is "Random". The Random tab surfaces playlists of randomly selected music from TuneCore customers - everyone is eligible and anyone can be in the playlists

We submitted the App yesterday, now we need Apple to accept it and make it live...

fingers crossed....

We will keep you posted

idea: why not be like google and add a "surprise me" button? then the user could pick a genre and get random results.

i love the idea, but sorting everything by how well it sells just reinforces the status quo. the whole reason most of us are on tunecore is to escape this kind of marketing and hope to make our own mark somehow. how are users supposed to find obscure acts or new sounds using this app?

¡Acabo de comprar un iPod Touch y una adición hermosa esta app va a ser con esto! Aprecie realmente todos los recursos y la ayuda Tunecore proporciona.

I agree Jim . . . I thought . . . cool! And then I realized that, being in Nashville, I'm not gonna pop up on any "best-selling" in the area lists!

This sounds too good to be true! I was sick of the music industry and radio stations telling me what I should hear and who should be the best artist and we know the radio stations were being paid off. This is a great honest system and I hope it continues to stay this way. Great job! Tunecore!!!!!

jai rien compris ici cest la france alors faite un effort merci !!!! thank s

This will be such a cool app to help indie and up and coming bands and singers. It will help us in knowing the best markets for touring for sure. I have to agree with Jim Swan in the fact that having a discover somebody new feature would be great. You could even set it up by genre. If you were listening to Josh Groban or Michael Buble you could have a find new artists that sound like who I am listening to and they would see people like Andrew Martin or someone else. Great news and I can't wait to get the app when it comes out.

Zipcode search is a great idea, would love to see that feature integrated with a visual map interface.

Tangentially: Is there anything like a "smart ringtone" app for iPhone that would let a musician compose context specific rings i.e. computing incoming telephone numbers into melodies, computing time of day or GPS coordinates as ringtone modifiers?? If not I would love to help develop one. Feel free to contact me.

Please put a "discover somebody new" feature in it, so that we unknowns can get some exposure too! Let's not just have the most popular stars add to their popularity while newbies have to keep on struggling for recognition.
