Journey of a Band

In the office this week, we were thinking about “stages” in the life of a band. What does it take to become a legendary rock band once you’ve had your big couple of hits? I came up with a few near-the-end steps:

  • Form a band.
  • Record a hit song.
  • Put it on iTunes and AmazonMP3 and other stores through TuneCore.
  • Tour like crazy.
  • Get huge.
  • Win all kinds of awards once you’re already past your prime.
  • Mourn the untimely passing of your drummer.
  • Install drummer’s son as adequate but uninspiring replacement.
  • Have your own reality show cancelled after one season.
  • Reunion tour without your make-up on.

We thought it’d make a hilarious ad for TuneCore. Anything we missed?

You left out the steps where you:
Admit there is a drug/alcohol problem, sober up your lead singer with a trip to rehab, split up over it, make up, reunite and then do the reunion tour.

you also forgot the part where after you have a reunion tour you decide you still have the musical ability to write songs so you decide to make another album that gets relieced 3 years after you said it would

    1. Drummers son gets into car accident and loses arm. 2. Drummers son is a better drummer with one arm.

Order your Reunion Tour wardrobe from the BIG and TALL Catalog next to the milkshake and AA Meeting Book on your coffee table.

After the Reunion tour….. You start getting paid royalties from the album the Band recorded 12 years ago.
